Hey everyone, happy Friday!
It seems like everywhere you look there is some sort of festival going on in RVA, putting Richmonders in a good position, albeit a difficult one. Whether it was the Italian Festival last Sunday, this passed Wednesday’s Magnificent Midlothian Food Festival or the 2nd Annual Hogtober – kicking off tomorrow in Church Hill – there are options, plenty of options.
Now, Richmond is known for a few festivals in particular and if you haven’t heard of Dominion Riverrock, Richmond Folk Festival or the French Film Festival, then you either just moved here, work too much or you have agoraphobia (fear of crowds). RVA is home to some really cool and different festivals. Many have been seeded in the community for decades and others have just begun. Here are some of our favorites at Madison+Main, this is The Best of RVA: Festivals.
Dave Saunders, Chief Idea Officer: “It’s hard to pick a favorite, but this weekend is Oktoberfest at Capital Ale House Downtown. I think it is the best and most authentic Oktoberfest celebration in Virginia. Prost!”
Colleen Festa, Creative Intern: “Strangely enough, I happen to LOVE the Central Virginia Celtic Festival and Highland Games. So much of the festival is a competition of very proud men running around in kilts.”
Jovan Coker, Account Services Coordinator Intern: “The 2nd Street Festival is hands down one of my favorite festivals. My mom used to take me when I was a small child. And I still love it. I enjoy the unique and tasty dishes that the food vendors offer. The festival is also a great spot to pick up some really cool souvenir gifts and items for the house.”
Sammy Yatco, Client Services Coordinator: “This past August I went to the Filipino Festival for the first time. They had Filipino dancers and musicians, but the best part had to be the authentic food.”
Some of the mentioned festivals are happening over the next few weeks, so be sure to check out the links for more information!
If I haven’t convinced you to attend Capital Ale House’s Oktoberfest, then check out this video.
