Four Ways to Revolutionize Your Website
Fireworks, backyard barbecues, weekend pool parties, and picture-perfect picnics. The Fourth of July is right around the corner, and people are pulling out their grilling gear and getting ready to celebrate. Just like making the time to plan the perfect Independence Day party, summer is also the perfect time to think about revolutionizing your organization’s website. Over this long weekend, take a moment to look at the functionality, usability, and relevance of your website — and where you may be able to make some revolutionary improvements.
1. Audit Your Content
The first step is to take a deep dive into your site’s content. Is it accurate? Does it reflect your company’s mission? Does it accurately speak to your target market? Make sure your messaging is an accurate reflection of who you currently are as a business and the goals you’re trying to achieve. Plus, it’s always good to double-check that your contact and company information is correct. Something as simple as making sure your copyright is updated to the current year will let site visitors know your website is up-to-date and relevant — and shows that you pay attention to the small details.
2. Check For Any Compliance Issues
It’s important to make sure your site is meeting all the necessary compliance regulations. If all users cannot easily navigate your site or access the information, you are unfortunately excluding members of your target audience from mutually beneficial interactions.
3. Pay Attention To Your Call-To-Action Buttons
A well-designed website has relevant, intriguing, and action-inspiring CTAs (or call-to-actions) throughout the site. Depending on the purpose of the page, many great CTA examples include: “Buy Now,” “Join Now,” and “Download Now.” You’ll want your CTA buttons well-designed, highly visible, and correctly linked.
4. Scope Out Your Competition
While you’re discovering areas on your site that can improve, it’s also important to look at what your competition is doing. Is their site more responsive? Does it have a feature that would benefit your site user’s experience? Are there more sites linking to the competition’s website? It may be time to strategize on how your site can get linked on high-ranking websites to increase your business’s exposure.
You’re sure to uncover some areas that need improvement, but in the end, you’ll be happy you took the time to make a few adjustments and improvements. A nice-looking website is great, but unless it’s easy to use and functions properly, it’s not going to provide you with the results you’re hoping for.
