SLUTTY BRANDS WIN? | WEEKLY REPORT FOR MAY 21, 2021
Slutty Brands Win?
Richmond received a surprise visit from the Slutty Vegan
last weekend and no I am not referring to Angelina Jolie
. Atlanta’s hottest vegan burger joint has a bold name and a formidable social media presence. When the Slutty Vegan showed up at The Diamond, hundreds of ravenous fans waited in line for hours to eat veggie burgers and plant-based fried chicken sandwiches.
Of course, I didn’t show up. I’m a meatatarian. However, the One Night Stand™
looked absolutely delicious on their website and I was certainly impressed by the line of willing and happy customers
. I wanted to investigate how this innovative, woman and Black-owned business has been able to cultivate such a large and loyal following 532 miles away from its flagship location in Atlanta. What I found is most impressive. The company’s brand is colorful and fun and irreverent. They have amassed almost half a million followers on Instagram. They get hundreds of requests each day for the food truck to visit towns all across the South East.
Bold brands come in all shapes and sizes. From Apple to a three-location vegan restaurant with a food truck. They say bold things, they do bold things, and they get noticed — for example, a food truck that sells plant-based burgers drove into RVA and literally took over social and local media
for 24 hours.
So I ask you this…what will your company do next week? Will it be “business as usual?” Or will you be willing to take some risks? #BoldBrandsWin
Monday, May 17 — Roll Tide
On Monday we officially welcomed a new face to the Madison+Main team. Our number one pick in the 2021 draft is a three-year self-starter from The University of Alabama, Bailey Broughton as an Account Coordinator. Bailey has been an intern with our creative cohort for over a year now, working on both the Communications and Accounts side. Congratulations, Bailey and welcome back to Richmond! And on a personal note, thank you for the ‘Bama keychain.
Tuesday, May 18 — Hitting It Out Of The Park
Wednesday, May 19 — All-Day Fuel For All-Day Fun
This week, the team got to work on some promotional items for our friends at Compass Entertainment Complex. This Friday, May 21, they’re opening up their newest food-on-the-go venture — Compass Eatz! An outdoor food trailer with yummy snacks like turkey legs and soft service ice cream — it’s the great pit stop after a go on the Go-Karts. I’m going to stop in on my next trip down to Urbanna. Who’s in?
Thursday, May 20 — Have A Slice Day!
It’s been a while since I have seen members of my team in person so on Thursday a bunch of us met up for a pizza party at PBR
in The Fan. Last week’s pizza analogy got us in the mood. It was incredible to see my coworkers live and in the flesh, even though Account Executive’s Andrew Simpson and Jeremy Colb showed up in the same shirt. I didn’t get the memo.
Friday, May 21 — Funday
Friday calls for fun at Madison+Main. Account Executive Marita Cardenas shared this very important message with the team. After a heated debate, the final consensus was, of course, these Sauropods wear their ties at the base of their necks. I think my next question is, where exactly would they be going looking so fancy? Email me your thoughts.
