Alexis Williams, Account Management Intern
I am a senior studying Strategic Advertising at Virginia Commonwealth University and am greatly looking forward to graduating in December! I am a “cusp” of both an Aquarius and a Capricorn, I check WebMD way too often and I believe in always having three suits: 1 to have tea with the Queen, 1 for a funeral of my best ideas and 1 for an interview with Forbes. In my spare time I enjoy watching Netflix, surviving the challenge that is P90X and checking out eateries around Richmond. Why Madison + Main? To learn the in’s and out’s of what it takes to be successful in communications.
Caty Black, Account Management Intern
A lifelong passion of mine is spending way too much time in the shampoo aisle of Target and staring into other people’s shopping carts. Someone told me that these quirks would be considered skills in the advertising world, so I immediately quit my job and decided to take final stab at finishing a degree. Much like pairing a small child with a plate of spaghetti, I found the advertising program at VCU to be a perfect match. When I’m not working on projects or being a total creep at Target, I love cooking and spending time in D.C.
I once met Madeline Albreight and told her if she ever wanted to rebrand herself the best way to do so would be to start hanging out with Nicole Richie or one of the Olsen twins. She replied with a smile and a slight nod, so I’m constantly checking my phone for a call from her publicist.
I spent last summer working at the National Zoo and I’m pretty sure that’s why I got the internship at Madison+Main. Just like the Zoo, each day is an adventure and a feast for the senses. So far, I’ve really enjoyed having input on creative sessions and curating my collection of emoticons. I really think they are the future of communication. I’m always DTT (down to tweet) so please follow me on twitter @catyblack for doses in 140 characters or less. I usually post about food, e-how blunders or people blocking the escalator on the metro.
Maddie Coder, Advertising Mentorship
I’m a Senior at Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School, interested in creative writing and marketing. Every Senior at MLWGS is required to take an internship and gain at least 115 hours of experience. When I’m not at school, or at Madison+Main, you can find me at my dance studio, where I take ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and hip-hop dance on a competitive level. I’m hoping this internship will solidify what I want to major in when I go to college next year. Fingers crossed!
