LIVE from the Desk of the VP

Happy Friday, friends! Leanne here, filling in for our fearless leader and captain of the Madison+Main ship, Dave Saunders. Bossman is vacationing on a really big ship somewhere between Italy, Spain, and France. Given his undying love of cheeseburgers, I’m hoping he’s at least made peace with wine pairings and pasta.
As Madison+Main’s Vice President, I do a lot of different things, but I’ve never filled in writing the Weekly Report. After over eight years as a Madison+Mainiac, I’ve read over 428 of these (yes, I did the math), so hopefully I can deliver what your heart is looking for.
If you know me, you know to read this in a cheerful, calm tone, and to assume it hit our proofing team fully formatted, color-coded, and two days early. #TypeA
When Dave called and asked if I’d fill in, he said, “Just think of something you might like to rant about.” As a well-trained Southerner, I’ll just say, “Bless his heart,” and protect my reputation. Instead of risking it, I asked the team for some rant topics. Here’s what’s on their minds:
- Vagueposting, the “art” of cryptic social media posts that leave everyone wondering what the heck you mean. Is it the new rage baiting?
- Can we please have regular people competing in Olympic events so we can establish a realistic baseline?
- Why do we let a groundhog pretend he’s a meteorologist?
- Why do celebrities have celebrity doppelgängers who look like clone variations, but you never see that in the wild with regular people? (Just Google Jeremy Allen White and Gene Wilder. Or Courteney Cox and Jared Leto. Truly spooky.)
- May is the December of spring. Discuss.
- Hot dogs are, in fact, a sandwich. Not a taco. Any feedback? Email me your thoughts.
So if you’ve ever wondered what kind of thinking fuels bold ideas around here, now you know.
More from your guest host next Friday. In the meantime, onto the real story: what our incredible team was up to this week.
MONDAY:
SHE’S OUR PRESIDENT
This Presidents Day, we’re not shy to brag on ours – the incredible Molly Whitfield! She’s not just gracefully heading up Madison+Main and making mom life look easy, she also had time to create a beautiful new app – Sunday Sync! Sunday Sync reads every school, sports, and activity email and adds the dates to your family calendar, which just makes great SENSE. Molly, we’re so proud to have you as our Pres!

TUESDAY:
FAT TEAM TUESDAY
We’re all about the chance to enjoy some delicious treats as a team, and while Dave’s away, we had our own Mardi Gras for the day! VP Leanne Pillow doesn’t just crush it on the Weekly, she also led the charge for a pancake breakfast and king cake in the office, and the girls soaked up the team time for Fat Tuesday.

WEDNESDAY:
ERIN JOINS THE TEAM
We’re so excited to welcome Account Manager Erin Brennan to the team! She’s already blended in to our girl gang at the office and with her incredible wealth of experience we just know she’s a get for our whole team. Keep an eye out, shiny new headshot and bio hitting the website soon!

THURSDAY:
BUCKLE IN FOR A NEW CAMPAIGN
Thursday, we held our last community meeting with the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety and DriveSmart to show off some moodboards for our upcoming seatbelt safety campaign. Virginia, while leading the nation in so many sectors, is falling behind in seatbelt usage, resulting in so much unnecessary tragic loss of life. We’re working with the community to help the 804 get buckled up and get where they’re going.
FRIDAY:
LEANNE IS ON THE AIR!
What can’t she do?! VP Leanne Pillow subbed in on the Weekly Report and she joined Rich Herrera this morning to talk through weekend events in the city as the weather warms a little!
