Going For The Gold
I’ve always hated the month of February. It’s cold. It’s miserable. It gets dark at 5 p.m. and everyone seems to be in a bad mood. Yes, we have the Super Bowl, which my team hasn’t been to since 1992. That’s only one football game during the entire month. #mercy
But this year, the Winter Olympics have been a nice respite. I watched some very exciting downhill skiing, speed skating, and I even watched curling. (For the record, I’m all for a sport where I can drink a beer while participating and I’m happy to hear the IOC is considering bringing bowling back to the 2020 Olympics). If curling is an Olympic sport, then bowling must be too. But I think any sport that requires a panel of judges isn’t a sport. That’s called a talent show. Figure skating, in my mind, isn’t a sport.
Is it difficult? Yes.
Is it athletic? Yes.
Does it require years of training? Yes.
Is it a sport? (Let me know what you think?)
Monday, February 12 – Team Mates
On Monday, we got the band back together. It was good see our partners at Alliance Group and Burson-Marsteller, as we practiced and perfected our big pitch. We #crushedit
Another friend and partner dropped by Monday, as we welcomed Steve Mullen of EndGame PR. Steve is helping us ramp up some local PR campaigns, and it’s always good to work with a fellow die-hard VCU Rams fan.
If I was in the Olympics I’d be a curler. I mean, c’mon. You ever seen me play shuffleboard? #natural
Tuesday, February 13 – “Alexa, tell me a secret.”
Our COO Molly Whitfield is full of surprises. On Tuesday, we learned that she created a new app for Amazon devices where you can have Alexa read people’s most embarrassing (and funniest) secrets. Want to join in the fun? Upload your funny or embarrassing secret today.
Alexa can tell all your secrets now. Share your favorites anonymously at confessedsecrets.com
Wednesday, February 14 – “Isn’t she lovely?”
At M+M, we have a terrible habit of using acronyms, which is especially problematic when you wish someone a happy V.D. On Valentine’s Day, many of the lovely ladies at Madison+Main received flowers, so it’s a good thing our Communications Manager Kent Brockwell is part survivalist and part florist. #nowthatsaknife
Introducing our newest client: Floral Designz and OSHA Best Practices by Mr. Kent.
Our Valentine’s gift to you? Stevie Wonder singing “I just called to say I Love You” is our on-hold music this month. Call us, and if we really, really like you, we’ll put you on hold.
Client Services Coordinator Haleigh Lader said she wanted to be an ice skater, until I told her that wasn’t a real sport.
Thursday, February 15 – River City Roll
The only reason you may not have heard of River City Roll yet is the fact that it doesn’t open until April… but we’re creating plenty of buzz for our fun new client. We were happy to host them at our office on Thursday afternoon, where we presented concepts for the their Grand Opening campaign. Mark your calendars: River City Roll is coming in late April, but the campaign launches in a couple of weeks. #LetsRoll

Molly reports that she’s always wanted to be bobsledder, after she watched Cool Runnings dozens of times as a child.
