When Gene Cox took the stage and began to address the audience as “a room full of hookers,” we knew it was going to be an entertaining night. In fact, when you’re surrounded by some of the most talented and influential creatives in Richmond, a boring night is the last thing you’d expect. This year’s annual Richmond Ad Show was nothing short of spectacular with captivating work, an energetic crowd and, of course, an open bar. To top it off, Madison+Main took home a Bronze Cannonball in the “Best Online Video under $50,000” category for our Yard Works “Spot the Squatch” Interactive YouTube video.
Sponsored by the Richmond Ad Club, the 2011 Richmond Ad Show honored the best ads from this past year, all produced by local agencies. Among the four categories (Design, Interactive, Advertising and Production, as well as one for Student Work), agencies Barber Martin, Work Labs, The Martin Agency and production house Black Iris were awarded Best in Show for the respective categories. Madison+Main enjoys the privilege of working alongside these well-known shops every day and welcomes healthy competition from throughout the local ad community. If anything, it’s ad shops like these that push us to be even better.
Congratulations to all of the winners, including Charlie Connell of Punch who received the coveted Ad Person of the Year award! Madison+Main would also like to thank the Richmond Ad Club and the Richmond Show judges for all of the hard work that went into organizing this event.
