Introducing our Summer 2014 Interns!

Kaity “Sea Bass” Byrum, Graphic Design Intern

I graduated from Longwood University in 2013 with a BFA in Graphic Design. After taking some time off post-graduation, I am hoping that my internship at Madison+Main will help me re-enter the world of graphic design by freshening up my skills and gaining some real world experience. Aside from my time spent at Madison+Main I work as a wedding and portrait photographer. I am obsessed with my pup Callie and my nephews Austin and Aren. A country girl born and raised in Suffolk, VA, I like to get out of Richmond for a little hunting a fishing now and then.

Elizabeth “Shrimp Toast” Samardge, Digital Marketing Intern

I am a fourth year Psychology major at the University of Virginia. At UVA, I am a member of the set design and construction teams for the First Year Players, most recently the Technical Director for Shakespeare On the Lawn Theater Club and a goalie for our Women’s Ice Hockey Club.

My skills include constructing Roman aqueducts in one week on a college theater club budget and surviving 70-90mph slap shots to the face. I enjoy spending quality time with my X-Box, laptop and bed, as well as going to the movies and the occasional hike around Belle Island. I hope to learn a lot from my internship, particularly relating to the evolution of advertising techniques in an increasingly technology-based world.

Riley “Bro’shea” O’Shea, Account Management Intern

I’m a fourth year (or a “senior” as the rest of the world calls it) at the University of Virginia studyingEconomics and History.  I dislike long walks on the beach, as they are long and involve a good bit of walking.  When I’m not fishing or doing other outdoorsy things, I’m probably just watching Pawn Stars re-runs.  My culinary skills are limited to sandwich making, but damn do I make a good Turkey Panini.  I am very much looking forward to being a Madison+Main-iac this summer and I sincerely hope my ridiculous ability to quote every Office episode translates into something tangible.

Sam “The Sweetest Kid” Edwards, Account Management Intern

I’m a senior at Virginia Commonwealth University studying Strategic Advertising with a minor in Business. After only a couple days on the job, I can already tell this isn’t your ordinary internship. With never a dull moment around the office and everyone eager to make your acquaintance, I know this is going to be a great summer at Madison+Main. I’m currently going through the phase of trying to get my “summer body” back in shape, but being around a few friends that enjoy the occasional 211s on nice Richmond days this becomes quite the challenge. I’m in a Fraternity “Theta Chi,” but I don’t let my letters define who I am because that would just make me a stereotypical Frat Star.

I came to college ready to meet new people and create memories by being optimistic with an open mind, outgoing personality and always looking at the glass half full. If there were a quote I could live my life by it would have to be from the man himself: “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games, 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life…and that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan
